If you are interested in toy trains, there are many events for you to attend throughout the UK. The majority are swapmeets, which are listed in the various model railway and collector magazines. However there are also an increasing number of events that put the emphasis on running and displaying toy trains, rather than just trading them - through most also have some trading. The TCS is involved in organising a few of these shows, most are independent. They are all well worth a visit by the toy train enthusiast.

TELFORD STEAM RAILWAY MODEL & COLLECTOR GALA

Telford Steam Railway, Horsehay, Shropshire is holding a Model and Collectors Gala on Sunday 20th July.

An array of collectables and models will be on display alongside our resident model and miniature railways with something of interest for everybody from full size trains to scale models.

These will include displays of Tri-ang Hornby Trains with Minic Motorways, Berliner Bahn and Playcraft Trains, Commercial vehicles by Ledo & Corgi, more Lorries and Cars by Matchbox including the Motorway set, Model Fairground, Dolls House, Lines Bros push along toys, Disney Badges and a display of Egg Cups.  A small number of sales stands offering used model trains, toys and DVDs will complement the railways own souvenir shop. Members of the Train Collectors and Tri-ang Society will be in attendance. 

The associated Phoenix Model Engineering Society will be displaying a massive selection of its member’s vehicles and operating their Miniature Railway.

In keeping with the spirit of the event, throughout the day Telford Steam Railway will be operating steam passenger services on its standard gauge railway and the unique narrow gauge steam tramway, which was originally built 30 years ago for use in Telford Town Park.

The gala is being held in conjunction with the Narrow Gauge Model Exhibition at Telford's Park Inn Hotel on the same day and visitors can visit both courtesy of a vintage shuttle bus running between the two events.

The Narrow Gauge show event will also feature displays and exhibitions for collectors and enthusiasts to enjoy.

The model display, steam train and tram rides are open between 11am and 4.30pm priced at £5 for adults and £3 for children. The miniature train rides carry a small extra charge.
